Snoring is caused by obstruction in your respiratory system. The obstruction could be located in your nose or throat. Your throat size could be small, tonsils could be large, the tissues around your throat could be loose and floppy. Your tongue could be large or when asleep fall back enough to block your airway. Full blockage could qualify as obstructive sleep apnea.
Care
First of all you need to be evaluated for sleep apnea, which can be life threatening. For snoring , there are many oral devices that can be prescribed. They work by repositioning the tongue and jaw position to open the airway. Life style changes and surgical removal of the blockage are also treatments.
